Life Guard Review Course

The Lifeguard Review Course is designed to review the lifeguarding skills and core knowledge points required to recertify in lifeguarding. This course follows American Red Cross guidelines, successful completion of this course will earn the participant an updated Life Guard and First Aid/CPR/AED for the First Responder certificate.

Registration:              Registration will be open in person starting December 18th and ends January          15th for the first Session and ends February 12th for the second session at the           Recreation Department located at 1033 W. Las Palmas Ave.

Other Details:             Participants must have current Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED, or             Shallow Water Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certificate. Note: If certifications         are expired. Participants must take the full Lifeguarding or Shallow Water                 Lifeguarding course.

Life Guard Academy

City of Patterson’s Life Guard Academy is a course that follows the American Red Cross life guarding curriculum. Participants will be provided with a Life Guard Manual, and a CPR training Mask. Successful completion of Life Guard Academy will result in participants obtaining First Aid, CPR & AED for the Professional Rescuer Certificates and Life Guarding Certificates.

Registration:                  Registration is available in person only after the Participant has passed the Pre-Test. If the participant is a minor, their parent must be present at the time of Registration to fill out the Liability Waiver.

Other Details:                Participants must be 15 years old by the last day of class, or older. Participantsmust pass a pretest before enrolling in the course. The pre-test includes:

  • A 300-yard swim
  • A timed pre-test that consists of a 20-yard swim to retrieve a 10 lb. object from at least 10 ft. deep and return to the starting point, making sure to keep the object and their head above the water.
  • Tread water for 2 minutes without the help of their hands.

All components must be successfully completed to participate in Life Guard Academy.

Participants cannot take the pre-test more than once in 24 hours.

Spring Swim Clinic

This clinic, spearheaded by Patterson Pirates Coach Denise, will improve your swimmer’s technique and thereby improving their overall speed. All swimmers are encouraged to attend, whether you are looking to help your child obtain the skills necessary to be a part of a swim team, or a seasoned swimmer looking to refine skills before the start of the season

Beginner Level:6:30pm-7:00pm

Any child looking to learn skills necessary to be part of a Rec Swim Team.

Intermediate Level:7:00pm-7:30pm

About a Dolphin Swim Lesson learner. Can swim entire length of the pool without stopping.

Advanced Level:7:30pm-8:00pm

Any child that’s been on the Pirates or any Rec Swim Team for at least 2 years.

Registration:  You can register online or in person at the Recreation Department at 1033 W. Las Palmas Ave during regular business hours. Registration is open April 9th, 2019 and closes May 2nd, 2019.

Spring Water Aerobics & Lap Swim

Water Aerobics classes are designed for all levels and abilities. Instructors will provide needed modifications in order for you to improve your health with the benefits of water. Aquatic training allows you to get the balanced workout that is easy on your joints and addresses
